THE BOOK OF ACTS

Acts Chapter 3

¶ Now Peter and John went up to the temple at the hour of prayer, which was the ninth hour.

And a certain man who had been lame from his mother’s womb was carried there every day, and placed at the gate of the temple that is called Beautiful, to beg alms from those who entered the temple;

Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked for a gift.

Then Peter looked straight at him, as did John, and said, Look at us.

And he turned to them, expecting to receive something from them.

Then Peter said, I have no silver or gold; but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise and walk.

And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.

And he jumped up stood, and walked, and went into the temple with them, walking, and jumping, and praising God.

And all the people saw him walking and praising God:

And they knew that he was the same man who sat begging at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that what had happened to him.

And as the lame man who had been healed held onto Peter and John, all the people ran over gathering around them in the place called Solomon’s Porch, full of amazement.

¶ And when Peter saw it, he said to the people, Men of Israel, why are you so surprised at this? and why do you stare at us, as if we made this man walk though our own power or holiness?

The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his Son Jesus; whom you delivered up, and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.

But you denied the holy and righteous One, and asked that a murderer be released to you;

And killed the Prince of life, whom God has raised from the dead; of which we are witnesses.

And this man, whom you see and know, has been made strong through his name, through faith in his name: yes, the faith that comes through him has given this man perfect health as you can all see.

And now, brethren, I know that you did it through ignorance, as did your rulers.

But the things, that God previously foretold that Christ should suffer, through the mouth of all his prophets, he has thus fulfilled.

Therefore repent, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;

And that he may send Jesus Christ, who was appointed for you:

Whom heaven must receive until the time when everything will be restored, about which God spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets from the time the world began.

For Moses truly said to the fathers, The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brethren; you must listen to everything he tells you.

For every soul, who will not listen to that prophet, will be utterly destroyed from among the people.

Indeed, all of the prophets from Samuel onward, as many as have spoken, have also foretold these days.

You are the children of the prophets, and the covenant that God made with your fathers, saying to Abraham, And in your seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

When God raised up his Son Jesus, he sent him to you first to bless you, by turning each one of you from his wickedness.
