CHRIST FOR
INDIA
Doctrinal Statement
CHRIST FOR INDIA is an evangelical mission founded in the
U.S.A. in 1978. Its primary purpose is to support the ministry of Dr.
M. A. Thomas, a native Indian, as he and his numerous workers labor to
evangelize India. Following is the CFI doctrinal statement:
1. We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons:
Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Genesis 1:26; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew
28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14.
2. We believe the Bible to be fully and uniquely inspired by the
Holy Spirit, and that it is the only authoritative, inerrant and
infallible written Word of God. 2 Timothy 3:15-17; Hebrews 1:1-2; 2
Peter 1:21.
3. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His
virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious
and substitutionary and atoning death through His shed blood, in His
bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father,
and in His personal, visible return in power and great glory. Isaiah
7:14; John 1:1, 14; Acts 1:11; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Hebrews 7:26.
4. We believe that man was created in the image of God, was
tempted by Satan, and by his disobedience to God fell into a state of
sin; and that now because of Adam's sin, all mankind is in a depraved
and corrupt state needing the redemption and salvation that only God
can provide in Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit in
regeneration. Genesis 1:26-31; John 3:5; Romans 3:23; 5:12.
5. We believe that salvation consists in the forgiveness of sins,
the imputation of Christ's righteousness, and the gift of eternal life,
received by grace through faith alone apart from works. John 3:16;
Romans 8:1; Ephesians 2:8-9; 1 John 1:9.
6. We believe in the ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose
indwelling and ministry the Christian is being sanctified and empowered
to live a godly life and serve in the preaching and proclamation of the
gospel. John 14:16-17; 15:26; Acts 1:8; Ephesians 4:30.
7. We believe that the true church, the body of Christ, is
composed of all who have been redeemed, and that the church in its
visible and local manifestation is the appointed instrument for the
fulfillment of Christ's Great Commission. Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 15:4;
Ephesians 1:22-23; 5:25-32.
8. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost;
they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are
lost unto the resurrection of damnation. Matthew 25:46; Philippians
3:20-21.
