COLOSSIANS

Colossians Chapter 3

¶ If you have risen with Christ, seek those things that are above, where Christ is sitting at God’s right hand.

Set your affection on things above, not on the things of the earth.

For you have died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.

When Christ, who is our life, appears, then you will also appear with him in glory.

¶ Therefore put to death whatever belongs to your earthly nature; sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

For because of these things God’s wrath comes upon the children of disobedience:

Among whom you also practiced such, in the life that you once lived.

¶ But now you must rid yourselves of all such things; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, and filthy language.

Do not lie to each other, seeing that you have put off the old man with his deeds;

And have put on the new man, who is renewed in knowledge after the image of the One who created him:

Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

¶ Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves in tender compassion, kindness, lowliness of mind, gentleness, patience;

Putting up with each other, and forgiving each other, if anyone has a complaint against another: forgive even as Christ forgave you.

And above all these things have the love, that is the bond of perfection.

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, for you have been called to peace as one body in Christ; and be thankful.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; as you teach and counsel one another singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs to the Lord, with grace in your hearts.

And whatever you do in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

¶ Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.

Husbands, love your wives, and do not be bitter toward them.

Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing in the Lord.

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

Servants, obey your earthly masters in all things; not only when they are watching you, in order to please men; but in sincerity of heart, fearing God:

And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not to men;

Knowing that the inheritance you will receive from the Lord is a reward: for you serve the Lord Christ.

For he who does wrong will bear the wrong he has done: and there is no favoritism.
