THE BOOK OF EXODUS

Exodus Chapter 30

¶ You shall also make an altar to burn incense on: make it of acacia wood.

Its length shall be A cubit, and its breadth shall be a cubit; its top shall be square: and it shall be two cubits high: its horns shall be one piece with it.

And you shall overlay it with pure gold, its top, and its sides all around, as well as its horns; and you shall make a rim of gold around it.

And you shall make two golden rings under its rim, by its corners on both sides; and they shall be holders for the poles that carry it.

And you shall make the poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold.

And you shall put it in front of the veil that is before the ark of the testimony, in front of the mercy seat that is over the testimony, where I will meet with you.

And Aaron shall burn sweet incense on it every morning: he shall burn it when he tends the lamps.

And when Aaron lights the lamps in the evening, he shall burn incense on it, a perpetual incense before the LORD throughout your generations.

You shall offer no strange incense on it, or burnt sacrifices, or grain offerings; nor shall you pour drink offerings on it.

And Aaron shall make an atonement on its horns once a year with the blood of the sin offering of atonement: once in the year shall he make atonement on it throughout your generations: it is most holy to the LORD.

¶ And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

When you count the children of Israel to determine their number, then each shall give a ransom to the LORD for his soul, when you number them; so that there is no plague among them, when you number them.

Everyone should give a half shekel, when they are counted, a half shekel according to the shekel of the sanctuary: (a shekel is twenty gerahs:) a half shekel shall be the offering to the LORD.

Every one twenty years old or older shall give an offering to the LORD, as he joins those already numbered.

The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel, when they give an offering to the LORD, to make an atonement for your souls.

And you shall take the atonement money from the children of Israel, and shall appoint it for the service of the tabernacle of the congregation; that it may bring the children of Israel to remembrance before the LORD, to make an atonement for your souls.

¶ And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

You shall also make a basin of brass, with its stand also of brass, for washing: and you shall put it between the tabernacle of the congregation and the altar, and you shall put water in it.

There Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet:

When they go into the tabernacle of the congregation, they shall wash with water, so that they do not die; when they come near to the altar to minister, to burn an offering made by fire to the LORD:

They should wash their hands and their feet, so that they do not die: and it shall be a law for him and his descendants forever throughout their generations.

¶ Moreover the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

Take the best spices, five hundred shekels of pure myrrh, and of sweet-smelling cinnamon half as much, two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet-smelling calamus two hundred and fifty shekels,

And of cassia five hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and a hin of oil olive:

And you shall make of these a sacred anointing oil, blended as by a perfumer: it shall be an holy anointing oil.

And you shall anoint the tabernacle of the congregation with it, and the ark of the testimony,

And the table and all its utensils, and the candlestick and its utensils, and the altar of incense,

And the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the basin and its stand.

And you shall sanctify them, that they may be most holy: whatever touches them shall be holy.

And you shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister to me as priests.

And you shall say to the children of Israel, This is a holy anointing oil sacred to me throughout your generations.

It shall not be poured on man’s flesh, nor shall you make any other like it, in composition: it is holy, and it shall be holy to you.

Whoever compounds any like it, or whoever puts any of it on a stranger, shall be cut off from his people.

And the LORD said to Moses, Take sweet spices, stacte, and onycha, and galbanum; these sweet spices with pure frankincense: of each an equal weight:

And you shall make of them an incense, blended according to the perfumer’s art, tempered together, pure and holy:

And you shall grind some of it very fine, and put some of it before the testimony in the tabernacle of the congregation, where I will meet with you: it shall be to you most holy.

And as for the incense that you shall make, you shall not make any for yourselves that is of the same composition: it shall be to you holy for the LORD.

Whoever makes any like it, to enjoy its odor, shall be cut off from his people.
