1 ¶ Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

2 Son of man, prophesy and say, The Lord GOD says; Wail, Alas for the day!

3 For the day is near, the day of the LORD is near, it will be a cloudy day; a day of doom for the heathen.

4 And a sword will come upon Egypt, and there will be great sorrow in Cush, when the slain fall in Egypt, and they take away her wealth, and her foundations are broken down.

5 Cush, Put, and Lud, and all the foreign people, and Libya, and the men of the lands in league with them, will fall by the sword with them.

6 The LORD says; Those who support Egypt will fall; and the power she is so proud of will come down: the sword will cut them down from Migdol to Syene, says the Lord GOD.

7 And they will be desolate in the midst of countries that are desolate, and her cities will be among the other cities that are ruined.

8 And they will know that I am the LORD, when I kindle a fire in Egypt, and all who help her are destroyed.

9 At that time messengers will go out from me in ships to terrify unsuspecting Cush, and great anguish will come upon them, as in the day of Egypt’s doom: for, lo, it comes.

10 The Lord GOD says; I will also reduce the large population of Egypt by the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon.

11 He and his troops with him, the most ruthless among the nations, will be brought to destroy the land: and they will draw their swords against Egypt, and fill the land with the slain.

12 And I will dry up the streams, and sell the land into the hands of evil men: and by the hand of foreigners I will make the land and everything in it a waste: I the LORD have decreed it.

13 The Lord GOD says; I will also destroy their idols, and I will put an end to the false gods in Memphis; and there will no longer be a king in the land of Egypt: and I will instill fear into the land of Egypt.

14 And I will lay Pathros in ruins, and will set Zoan on fire, and will execute judgments in No.

15 And I will pour my fury upon Sin, Egypt’s fortress; and I will cut off the population of No.

16 And I will set fire to Egypt: Pelusium will be in anguish, Thebes will be torn open, and Memphis will face foes daily.

17 The young men of Aven and Pibeseth will fall by the sword: and these cities will go into captivity.

18 At Tehaphnehes the day will turn dark, when I break the yoke of Egypt there: and her proud strength will come to an end, a cloud will cover her, and her daughters will go into captivity.

19 Thus I will execute judgments in Egypt: and they will know that I am the LORD.

20 ¶ And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the first month, on the seventh day of the month, that the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

21 Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and, it will not be bound up or wrapped with a bandage so it can heal, and have enough strength to wield a sword.

22 Therefore the Lord GOD says; Know that I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and will break both of his arms, the strong one, and the one that is broken; and I will cause the sword to drop from his hands.

23 And I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them through the countries.

24 I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and put my sword in his hand: but I will break Pharaoh’s arms, and he will groan before him like one mortally wounded.

25 I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, but the arms of Pharaoh will fail; and they will know that I am the LORD, when I put my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he stretches it out over the land of Egypt.

26 And I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and disperse them among the countries; and they will know that I am the LORD.
