THE BOOK OF EZEKIEL

Ezekiel Chapter 35

¶ Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

Son of man, turn your face toward mount Seir, and prophesy against it,

And say to it, The Lord GOD says; Know, O mount Seir, that I am against you, and I will stretch out my hand against you, and I will make you a desolate waste.

I will turn your cities into ruins, and you will be desolate, and you will know that I am the LORD.

Because you have always hated Israel, and turned the children of Israel over to the sword at the time of their calamity, at the time when the end result of their iniquity came:

Therefore, as I live, says the Lord GOD, I will give you over to bloodshed, and bloodshed will pursue you: because you have not hated bloodshed, bloodshed will pursue you.

Thus will I make mount Seir a barren waste, and destroy everyone who comes and goes there.

And I will fill Edom’s hills with the slain: those who are slain with the sword will fall on your hills, and in your valleys, and in all your rivers.

I will make you perpetually barren, and your cities will not return: and you will know that I am the LORD.

¶ Because you said, These two nations and these two countries will be ours, and we will possess them; even though the LORD was there:

Therefore, as I live, says the Lord GOD, I will do as you did in your anger, and in your envy because you hated them; and I will make myself known among them, after I have judged you.

And you will know that I am the LORD, and that I have heard all the blasphemies that you have spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are desolate, they have been given us to devour.

Thus with your mouth you have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them.

The Lord GOD says; When the whole earth rejoices, I will make you desolate.

Since you were delighted to see Israel’s heritage laid waste, I will do the same to you: you will be desolate, O mount Seir, as will all of Idumea: and you will know that I am the LORD.
