HEBREWS

Hebrews Chapter 1

¶ God, who in the past spoke to the fathers at many times and in various ways through the prophets,

Has spoken to us in these last days in the person of his Son, whom he has appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe;

Who being the brightness of his glory, and the true image of his nature, and sustaining all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself made purification for our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

¶ Being made as much greater than the angels, as the name he has inherited is greater than theirs.

For to which of the angels did God ever say, You are my Son, today I have begotten you? Or, I will be his Father, and he will be my Son?

Moreover, when he will again bring his first-born into the world, he says, All God’s angels must worship him.

Of the angels he says, Who makes his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.

But to the Son he says, Your throne, O God, is for ever and ever: and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom.

You have loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions anointing you with the oil of gladness.

And, In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of your hands:

They will perish; but you remain; they will all grow old like a garment;

And you will fold them up like a robe, and they will be changed: but you remain the same, and your years will never end.

But to which of the angels has he ever said, Sit on my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool?

Are they not all spirits who serve him, and are sent forth to help those who will be heirs of salvation?
