THE BOOK OF MICAH

Micah Chapter 5

¶ Now gather yourself in troops, you people invaded by troops: we are under siege: they will strike the judge of Israel on the cheek with a rod.

But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you will come one who will rule in Israel for me; whose origin is from long ago, from everlasting.

Therefore he will abandon Israel, until the time when she who travails has brought forth: then the rest of his brethren will return to the children of Israel.

And he will stand and feed his flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they will live securely: for then his greatness will extend to the most distant parts of the earth, and there will be peace.

When the Assyrian comes into our land: and when he marches against our fortresses, then we will raise seven shepherds against him, and eight leaders of men.

And they will rule the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod with drawn swords: thus he will deliver us from the Assyrians, when they come into our land, and when they march within our borders.

¶ And the rest of Jacob will be among many peoples like a dew from the LORD, like showers on the grass, that do not wait for man, or depend on the sons of men.

And the rest of Jacob will be among the Gentiles among many nations like a lion among the beasts of the forest, like a young lion among the flocks of sheep: who tramples and tears as he goes through, and there is no one to rescue them.

Your hand will be raised high over your adversaries, and all your enemies will be destroyed.

And it will come to pass in that day, says the LORD, that I will remove your horses from among you, and I will destroy your chariots:

And I will destroy the cities of your land, and break down all your fortresses:

And I will bring an end to the witchcraft that you practice; and you will have no more fortune-tellers:

I will also destroy your graven images, and the standing images that are among you; and you will no longer worship the work of your hands.

And I will pull up the sacred pillars that are among you: and I will destroy your cities.

And I will take vengeance in furious anger on the heathen, those who refuse to listen.
