THE TEACHING OF MOSES AND THE PROPHETS

CONCERNING THE ONE TRUE GOD

There is but one true God, one Divine Being.  For it is written, "Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God is one Lord:", (Deuteronomy 6:4).

The one true God is eternally existent in three distinct persons.  Therefore, even though the true God is an invisible Spirit, when He appeared to Abraham in the plains of Mamre, Abraham saw three men, bowed to them, and referred to them in the singular as his Lord (Genesis 18:1-3).

The Word of Moses and the Prophets tells us that:

    The Father is God. -(Jeremiah 3:14 & 19; Malachi 1:6; Jeremiah 31:9; Malachi 2:10; Isaiah 63:16).
The Son is God. -(Psalm 27:11-12; Isaiah 9:6; Psalm 47:5; Hosea 1:7; Micah 5:2, Isaiah 7:14).
The Holy Spirit is God. -(Psalm 51:11; Isaiah 63:10-11; 2 Samuel 23:2).

Likewise that same Word tells us that these three are distinct from each other.  For Isaiah records He who is "the First" and" the Last", whose "hand also laid the foundation of the earth" as saying "I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I; and now the Lord God and His Spirit hath sent me." (Isaiah 48:12,13,16)

Yet God's Word makes it clear that there are not three God's, but One God. The three are One. -(Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 45:21-22; Isaiah 43:10-11).

CREATION

In just six days God created the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and He rested on the seventh day. -(Genesis 1; Exodus 20:11)  On the sixth day God created man in His own image, pure and free from sin. -(Ecclesiastes 7:29; Genesis 5:1; Genesis 1:26,27 & 31)

THE FALL

Although created without sin, through disobedience the first man and the first woman sinned and thus lost the image of God. -(Job 14:4; Genesis 3:2,3,6,11,12 & 19; Genesis 5:3)  Through sin they were brought under the power of sin, their very nature being corrupted by sin. -(Proverbs 5:22; Genesis 18:21; Psalm 76:6 & 8; Jeremiah 17:9; Genesis 6:5; Psalm 52:3)

Because of their sin all men are conceived in sin and are sinners from the womb. -(Genesis 5:3; Job 14:4; Job 15:4; Job 25:4-5; Psalm 51:5; Psalm 58:3)  Being sinners no one is able to keep God's law. -(Isaiah 64:6; Psalm 14:3; 1 Kings 8:46; Psalm 53:3; Ecclesiastes 7:20)  We have all sinned (Ecclesiastes 7:20; Psalm 14:3; Isaiah 53:8; Psalm 53:3; Leviticus 11:44) and are through sin under the curse of the law and therefore are worthy only of death. -(Deuteronomy 27:26; Psalm 119:21; Jeremiah 11:3; Deuteronomy 28:15 & 45; Ezekiel 18:20; Genesis 6:11-13)

THE MESSIAH

Although we have all sinned and are worthy only of death, God loves us and desires that all should be saved. -(Job 33:32; Ezekiel 33:11)  Therefore, God promised to raise up a seed of the woman, a descendant of Abraham, who would crush the head of the serpent and through whom all the nations of the earth will be blessed. -(Genesis 3:14-15; Genesis 22:18; Genesis 21:12; Genesis 26:4; Genesis 28:14; Jeremiah 23:5-6)
      The Messiah is true God, Jehovah incarnate. -(Jeremiah 23:5-6; Isaiah 7:14; Isaiah 9:6; Isaiah 25:9; Psalm 89:27; Isaiah 49:26; Hosea 11:1; Isaiah 54:5; Isaiah 43:3 & 14)

His sacrifice was the price of our redemption. -(Isaiah 52:3; Isaiah 60:16; Job 19:25; Psalm 78:35; Isaiah 12:2; Isaiah 63:16; Ezekiel 18:4 & 20; Proverbs 5:22; Isaiah 54:5)  Through His death we receive forgiveness and are delivered from the bondage of sin death and the power of the Devil. -(Psalm 78:35; Isaiah 12:2; Isaiah 63:16; Proverbs 5:22; Job 19:25; Jeremiah 31:34; Psalm 32:1; Jeremiah 33:8; Leviticus 17:11)

The forgiveness which He won for us by His death on the cross is freely extended to all who turn from their sin and trust in Him and His sacrifice alone, not works, to make them righteous before God. -(Isaiah 53:11; Proverbs 11:9; Hosea 4:6; Jeremiah 17:5; Psalm 78:22 & 32; Job 33:27-28; Joel 2:32; Proverbs 3:34; Psalm 10:4; Isaiah 64:6; Psalm 34:18; Psalm 26:1; Psalm 37:40; Habakkuk 2:4; Psalm 52:8; Psalm 37:5 & 40; Psalm 71:15,16 & 19; Psalm 84:12; Psalm 2:12; Psalm 32:10; Psalm 34:8)
