Nehemiah Chapter 3

1 ¶ Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brethren the priests, and they repaired the sheep gate; they consecrated it, and set its doors in place; they dedicated it as far as the tower of Meah, and the tower of Hananeel.

2 And next to him the men of Jericho made repairs. And next to them Zaccur the son of Imri made repairs.

3 But the sons of Hassenaah repaired the fish gate, they laid its beams, and set up its doors, its bolts, and its bars.

4 And next to them Meremoth the son of Urijah, the son of Koz made repairs. And next to them Meshullam the son of Berechiah, the son of Meshezabeel made repairs. And next to them Zadok the son of Baana made repairs.

5 And next to them the Tekoites made repairs; but their nobles would not put their shoulders to the work of their Lord.

6 The gate of the old city was repaired by Jehoiada the son of Paseah, and Meshullam the son of Besodeiah; they laid its beams, and set up its doors, and its bolts, and its bars.

7 And next to them Melatiah the Gibeonite, and Jadon the Meronothite, the men of Gibeon, and of Mizpah, made repairs as far as the residence of the governor west of the Euphrates.

8 Next to him Uzziel the son of Harhaiah, of the goldsmiths, made repairs. Next to him Hananiah the son of one of the apothecaries, also made repairs, and they fortified Jerusalem as far as the broad wall.

9 And next to them Rephaiah the son of Hur, the ruler of the half part of Jerusalem, made repairs.

10 And next to them Jedaiah the son of Harumaph, made repairs, opposite his own home. And next to him Hattush the son of Hashabniah made repairs.

11 Malchijah the son of Harim, and Hashub the son of Pahath-moab, repaired another part, including the tower of the furnaces.

12 And next to him Shallum the son of Halohesh, the ruler of half the district of Jerusalem, made repairs, he and his daughters.

13 The valley gate was repaired by Hanun, and the inhabitants of Zanoah; they built it, and set up its doors, its bolts, and its bars, and repaired a thousand cubits of wall as far as the dung gate.

14 But the dung gate was repaired by Malchiah the son of Rechab, the official in charge of the district of Bethhaccerem; he built it, and set up its doors, its bolts, and its bars.

15 And the fountain gate was repaired by Shallun the son of Colhozeh, the official in charge of Mizpah; he built it, and covered it, and set up its door, its bolts, and its bars, and the wall by the pool of Siloah at the king’s garden, as far as the stairs that go down from the city of David.

16 After him Nehemiah the son of Azbuk, the official in charge of the half district of Bethzur, made repairs, as far as the sepulchres of David, and the man-made pool, and the soldier’s barracks.

17 After him the Levites made repairs, including Rehum the son of Bani. Next to him Hashabiah, the official in charge of half the district of Keilah, made repairs for his district.

18 After him their relatives repaired it, Bavai the son of Henadad, the official in charge of half the district Keilah.

19 And next to him Ezer the son of Jeshua, the official in charge of Mizpah, repaired another part where you go up to the armory at the corner of the wall.

20 After him Baruch the son of Zabbai earnestly repaired another part, from the corner of the wall to the door of the house of Eliashib the high priest.

21 After him Meremoth the son of Urijah the son of Koz repaired another part, from the door of the house of Eliashib to the end of the house of Eliashib.

22 And after him the priests, who lived in that area, made repairs.

23 After them Benjamin and Hashub made repairs opposite their house. After them Azariah the son of Maaseiah the son of Ananiah beside his house.

24 After him Binnui the son of Henadad repaired another piece, from the house of Azariah to the bend and corner of the wall.

25 Palal the son of Uzai, repaired it opposite the bend of the wall, and the tower which projects out from the king’s high house, to the prison court. After him Pedaiah the son of Parosh.

26 And the temple servants living on Ophel, made repairs to the place opposite the water gate on the east, and the tower that projects out.

27 After them the Tekoites repaired another portion, opposite the great tower that projects out, as far as the wall of Ophel.

28 Above the horse gate the priests made repairs, every one opposite his own house.

29 After them Zadok the son of Immer made repairs opposite against his own house. After him Shemaiah the son of Shechaniah, the keeper of the east gate, made repairs.

30 After him Hananiah the son of Shelemiah, and Hanun the sixth son of Zalaph, repaired another portion. After him Meshullam the son of Berechiah made repairs opposite his chamber.

31 After him Malchiah the goldsmith’s son made repairs as far as the house of the temple servants, and of the merchants, opposite the gate Mustering, and as far as the upper room at the corner.

32 And between the upper room and the corner and the sheep gate, the goldsmiths and the merchants made repairs.
