THE BOOK OF PROVERBS
Proverbs 12
1 ¶ Whoever loves being corrected loves knowledge: but he who hates reproof is brutish.
2 ¶ The LORD delights in a good man: but condemns a man who devises wicked schemes.
3 ¶ A man cannot find security through wickedness: but the foundation of the righteous cannot be moved.
4 ¶ A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but a wife that brings disgrace is like rottenness in his bones.
5 ¶ The thoughts of the righteous are trustworthy: but the advice of the wicked is treacherous.
6 ¶ The words of the wicked lead to death: but the mouth of the upright will deliver them.
7 ¶ The wicked are overthrown, and are gone: but the house of the righteous will stand.
8 ¶ A man will be praised in accord with his wisdom: but he who is of a perverse heart will be despised.
9 ¶ He who is unimportant, but supports himself, is better than he who acts important, but has nothing to eat.
10 ¶ A righteous man cares about the welfare of his animals: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
11 ¶ He who tills his land will have enough to eat: but he who chases after empty dreams is devoid of understanding.
12 ¶ A wicked man desires the web of evil men: but the root of the righteous yields fruit.
13 ¶ The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the righteous finds a way out of trouble.
14 ¶ A man can enjoy satisfaction and good as a fruit of his mouth: and the work of a man’s hands will reward him.
15 ¶ The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he who listens to advice is wise.
16 ¶ A fool’s anger is quickly revealed: but a prudent man ignores an insult.
17 ¶ He who speaks truth says what is right: but a false witness deceit.
18 ¶ There are those whose words are like the piercing of a sword: but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
19 ¶ Truthful lips endure for ever: but a lying tongue lasts only a moment.
20 ¶ Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil: but those who promote peace are happy.
21 ¶ No harm will come to the righteous: but the wicked will be filled with misery.
22 ¶ Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but those who speak truthfully are his delight.
23 ¶ A wise man does not say everything he knows: but the mind of a fool proclaims its foolishness.
24 ¶ One who works hard will be in charge: but the lazy will be forced to work.
25 ¶ Anxiety in a man’s heart will weigh him down: but an encouraging word cheers him up.
26 ¶ The righteous man is a guide to his neighbor: but the path of the wicked leads them astray.
27 ¶ The lazy man will not roast what he took in hunting: but the industrious man will gain wealth.
28 ¶ There is life in the way of righteousness; and on that path there is no death.
