THE BOOK OF PSALMS

Psalms 147-150

1 ¶ Praise the LORD: for it is good to sing hymns to our God; for he is delightful; and praise is beautiful.

2 The LORD is rebuilding Jerusalem: he gathers together the outcasts of Israel.

3 He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds.

4 He decides how many stars there should be; and gives them all names.

5 Our LORD is great, and very powerful: and there is no limit to his understanding.

6 The LORD lifts up the humble: and he casts the wicked down to the ground.

7 Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; on the harp sing praise to our God:

8 Who covers the heavens with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass grow on the mountains.

9 He provides food for the animals, and gives the young ravens what they cry for.

10 He is not impressed by the strength of a horse: he does not take pleasure in a man’s legs.

11 The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who trust in his mercy.

12 ¶ Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem; praise your God, O Zion.

13 For he has made the bars of your gates strong; he has blessed your children within you.

14 He brings peace to your border, and fills you with the finest wheat.

15 He sends his command throughout the earth: his word runs very swiftly.

16 He spreads snow like wool: he scatters white frost like ashes.

17 He throws down his sleet like crumbs: who can stand before his cold?

18 He sends out his word, and melts them: he causes his wind to blow, and the waters flow.

19 He reveals his word to Jacob, his statutes and his judgments to Israel.

20 He has not done this for any other nation: and they have not known his judgments. Praise the LORD.

Psalm 148

1 ¶ Praise the LORD. Praise the LORD from the heavens: praise him from the heights.

2 Praise him, all you his angels: praise him, all his hosts.

3 Praise him, sun and moon: praise him, all you stars of light.

4 Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens.

5 Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created.

6 He has also set them in their places forever: he has given a law that none can break.

7 ¶ Praise the LORD from the earth, you sea monsters, and ocean depths:

8 Lightning, and hail; snow, and fog; stormy winds that carry out his word:

9 Mountains, and all hills; trees that bear fruit, and all cedars:

10 Wild animals, and all that are domesticated; creeping things, and winged birds:

11 Kings of the earth, and all peoples; princes, and all the judges in the world:

12 Both young men, and young women; old men, and children:

13 Let them all praise the name of the LORD: for his name alone is excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven.

14 He has raised up a horn for his people, the praise of all his saints; even for the children of Israel, a people close to him. Praise the LORD.

Psalm 149

1 ¶ Praise the LORD. Sing to the LORD a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints.

2 Let Israel rejoice in him who made him: let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.

3 Let them praise his name with dancing: let them sing praises to him with the tambourine and harp.

4 For the LORD takes pleasure in his people: he glorifies the humble with salvation.

5 Let the saints rejoice in this glory: let them sing aloud on their beds.

6 ¶ Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand;

7 To execute vengeance on the heathen, and punishments on the unbelieving people;

8 To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron;

9 Carrying out the judgment decreed against them: this honor is for all his saints. Praise the LORD.

Psalm 150

1 ¶ Praise the LORD. Praise God in his holy place: praise him in the universe that reveals his power.

2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.

3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with lutes and lyres.

4 Praise him with the tambourine and dancing: praise him with stringed instruments and flutes.

5 Praise him with resounding cymbals: praise him with loud clashing cymbals.

6 Let every thing that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD.
