THE BOOK OF REVELATION

Revelation Chapter 11

¶ And I was given a reed as a measuring a rod: and the angel said, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and those who worship therein.

But leave out the court that is outside the sanctuary, and do not measure it; because it has been given to the heathen: and they will tread the holy city under foot for forty-two months.

¶ And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.

These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks that stand before the God of the earth.

And if anyone tries to harm them, fire comes out of their mouths, and consumes their enemies: that is how anyone who wants to harm them must be killed.

These men have the power to shut the heavens, so that it will not rain during the time they are prophesying: and power to turn the waters into blood, and to smite the earth with every plague, as often as they desire.

And when they have finished their testimony, the beast who ascends out of the bottomless pit will wage war against them, and will overcome them, and kill them.

And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city, that is spiritually called Sodom and Egypt, where our Lord was also crucified.

And those from every people group, kindred, language and nation will see their dead bodies for three and a half days, and will not allow their dead bodies to be placed into graves.

And those who inhabit the earth will rejoice over them, and celebrate, and send gifts to each other; because these two prophets tormented the people living on the earth.

But after three and a half days God sent the Spirit of life into them, and they stood on their feet; and those who saw them were terrified.

And they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, Come up here. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; while their enemies watched them.

And in that same hour there was there a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell, and seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake: and the rest were terrified, and gave glory to the God of heaven.

¶ The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe comes quickly.

And the seventh angel sounded his trumpet; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord, and his Christ; and he will reign for ever and ever.

And the twenty-four elders, who sit before God on thrones, fell on their faces, and worshipped God,

Saying, We thank you, O Lord God Almighty, who is, and was, and has come; because you have taken the great power that is yours, and are reigning.

The nations were against you, and your wrath has come, and it is time for the dead to be judged, and for you to reward your servants the prophets, and your saints, and those who fear your name, both small and great; and to destroy those who destroy the earth.

And the temple of God that is in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant could be seen in his sanctuary: and there were flashes of lightning, and voices, and peals of thunder, and an earthquake, and a great hailstorm.

[Note: Verse 15 The seventh trumpet is the last trumpet, and 1Corinthians 15:52 tells us that the resurrection will take place when it sounds. See John 6:40 and 11:24, Matthew 25:31, Revelation 10:7, and verse 18.]
