THE BOOK OF REVELATION

Revelation Chapter 8

¶ And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.

And I saw the seven angels that stood before God; and seven trumpets were given to them.

And another angel came and stood at the altar, holding a golden censer; and he was given much incense, to offer with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar that was before the throne.

And the smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God from the angel’s hand.

And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth: and there were voices, peals of thunder, flashes of lightning, and an earthquake.

And the seven angels that had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.

¶ The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was hurled to the earth: and a third of the trees were burnt up, and all the green grass was burnt up.

And the second angel sounded, and something like a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and a third of the sea became blood;

And a third of the creatures that were in the sea, and had life, died; and a third of the ships were destroyed.

And the third angel sounded, and a great star, flaming like a torch, fell from heaven and it fell upon a third of the rivers, and upon the fountains of water;

And the name of the star is Wormwood: and a third of the waters became wormwood; and many men died from the waters, because they were made bitter.

And the fourth angel sounded, and a third of the sun, and a third of the moon, and a third of the stars was smitten; so that a third of them was darkened, and a third of the day was without light, and the night likewise.

And I saw and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabitants of the earth because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other three angels!
