THE BOOK OF REVELATION

Revelation Chapter 9

¶ Then the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven to earth: and the key of the bottomless pit was given to him.

And he opened the bottomless pit; and smoke arose out of the pit, like the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by the smoke from the pit.

And out of the smoke locusts came down upon the earth: and power was given to them, like that of the scorpions of the earth.

And they were commanded not to hurt the grass of the earth, nor any green thing, nor any tree; but only those men who do not have the seal of God in their foreheads.

And they were not allowed to kill these, but only to torment them for five months: and their torment was like the torment of a scorpion, when it strikes a man.

And in those days men will seek death, and will not find it; and will desire to die, but death will elude them.

And the locusts looked like horses prepared for battle; and upon their heads were crowns that looked like gold, and their faces were like the faces of men.

And they had hair like the hair of women, and their teeth were like the teeth of lions.

And they had breastplates, like breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots with many horses running to battle.

And they had tails like scorpions, with stings: and their tails had the power to hurt people for five months.

And they had a king over them, the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew language is Abaddon, but in Greek is Apollyon.

One woe is past; and there are two more woes yet to come.

¶ And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar that is before God,

Saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.

And the four angels, who had been prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, to slay one third of mankind, were released.

And the armies of horsemen numbered two hundred million: and I heard their number.

And in my vision I saw how the horses and their riders looked, having breastplates the color of fire, and of jacinth, and sulfur: and the heads of the horses resembled the heads of lions; and fire, smoke and sulfur came out of their mouths.

By these three plagues, by the fire, and the smoke, and the sulfur, that came out of their mouths, a third of mankind was killed.

For their power is in their mouths, and in their tails: for their tails had heads like serpents, and they used them to harm.

And the rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent or turn from the work of their hands, so as not to worship devils, and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood: that cannot see, hear, or walk:

Nor did they repent of their murders, their sorceries, their fornication, or their thefts.
