ABOUT OUR SAVIOR IN HIS EXALTATION ?

A Look at God's Word

1. WHAT DO THE SCRIPTURES TEACH OF CHRIST'S DESCENT INTO HELL ?
 THE BIBLE SAYS -

  1 Pet. 3:18, 19. (Christ was) put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the spirit; by which also He went and preached unto the spirits in prison.

FROM THIS WE LEARN-
 Christ having been made alive in His grave, descended into hell, not to suffer, but to proclaim His victory over His enemies.

2. WHAT DO THE SCRIPTURES TEACH OF CHRIST'S RESURRECTION ?
 THE BIBLE SAYS -

 Matt. 28:1-15; Mark 16:1-14; Luke 24:1-49; John 20 and 21; Acts 1:3; Acts 10:40, 41; 1 Cor. 15:4-8.

  A BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE RESURRECTION ACCOUNTS. (30 A.D.)

Early on Sunday morning, the third day after Christ's death, there is a great earthquake as the angel of the Lord comes down from heaven, rolls back the stone from the tomb, and sits upon it. The guards fall to the ground, and then flee. When the women who had followed Jesus come to anoint His body, the angel says to them,"Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay." (Matt. 28:5-6.) Later on Easter Sunday and during the following forty days Christ Himself appears at least nine times to individuals and groups of disciples, thereby convincing them beyond a doubt that He is risen indeed.

FROM THIS WE LEARN -
 Christ on the third day after His death victoriously rose from the grave and during forty days showed Himself alive to His disciples.

 3. WHY IS THE RESURRECTION OF CHRIST OF THE UTMOST IMPORTANCE AND COMFORT TO US ?
 THE BIBLE SAYS -

  (a) Rom. 1:4. (He was) declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.
 (b) John 2:19. Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
 (c) 1 Cor. 15:17. If Christ be not raised, your faith is vain: ye are yet in your sins.
 *(c) Rom. 4:25.(Christ) was delivered for our offenses, and was raised again for our justification.
 *(d) John 14:19. Because I live, ye shall live also.
 *(d) John 11:25, 26. I am the Resurrection, and the Life: he that believeth in Me, though he were
  dead, yet shall he live; and whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die.

FROM THIS WE LEARN -
 Christ's resurrection definitely proves
 (A) That Christ is the Son of God;
 (B) That His doctrine is the truth;
  (C) That God the Father has accepted the sacrifice of His Son for the reconciliation of the world;
 (D) That all believers shall rise unto eternal life.

4. WHAT ELSE DID CHRIST DO DURING THE FORTY DAYS AFTER HIS
  RESURRECTION BESIDES SHOWING HIMSELF ALIVE ?
 THE BIBLE SAYS -

  (a b c) Acts 1:3, 4, 5, 8. He showed Himself alive (to the apostles) after His passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God; and, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which saith He, ye have heard of Me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence . . . Ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
  (c) Matt. 28:18-20. Jesus came and spake unto them, saying. All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach (make disciples of) all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.

  Luke 24:50, 51. He led them out as far as to Bethany, and He lifted up His hands, and blessed them. And it came to pass, while He blessed them, He was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.
  Acts 1:9-11. While they beheld, He was taken up: and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into heaven.
 Eph. 4:10. He that descended is the same also that ascended far above all heavens.
  John 17:24. Father, I will that they also, whom Thou hast given Me, be with Me where I am; that they may behold My glory.

(God) set Him (Christ) at His own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: and hath put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be the Head over all things to the Church, which is His body, the fullness of Him that filleth all in all.
  (a b) Eph. 4:10-12. (He) ascended up far above all heavens, that He might fill all things. And He gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some evangelists: and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.
  (c) 1 John 2:1. If any man sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the Righteous.
 (c) Rom. 8:34. (Christ) is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
