SECOND
CORINTHIANS
Second Corinthians
9
1
¶ For it is superfluous for me to write to you, in
regard to this service to the saints:
2
For I know how eager you are, and have boasted to them of Macedonia, that you
in Greece were ready a year ago; and your zeal has provoked very many.
3
Yet lest our boasting of you should be in vain in this regard; I have sent the
brethren, so you may be ready, as I said:
4
For if any Macedonians come with me, and find you unprepared, we (to say
nothing of you) would be ashamed for being so confident.
5
Therefore I thought it necessary to urge the brethren, to go to you before I
do, and arrange beforehand your bounty, whereof you had notice before, that the
same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not as of
covetousness.
6
¶ But this I say, He who sows sparingly shall
also reap sparingly; and he who sows bountifully shall also reap bountifully.
7
Let every man give as he has decided in his heart; not
grudgingly, or under compulsion: for God loves a cheerful giver.
8
And God is able to make every blessing abound to you; that you, always
having everything you need, may abound to every good work:
9
As it is written, He has dispersed abroad; he has given to the poor: his
righteousness remains forever. [Psalm 112:9]
10
Now he that supplies both seed to the sower and bread
for your food, will multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of
your righteousness;
11
Being enriched in every thing for all generosity, which through us will result
in thanksgiving to God.
12
For the administration of this service not only supplies the need of the
saints, but also abounds in many giving thanks unto God;
13
Because by the experiment of this giving they glorify God for your professed
subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your generous distribution
unto them, and unto all men;
14
And their prayers for you, will express affection for you because of the
exceeding grace of God in you.
15
Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.
