SECOND THESSALONIANS

Second Thessalonians 1

¶ Paul, Silas, and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:

Grace and peace to you, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

We cannot help but give thanks always for you, brethren, and rightly so, because your faith is flourishing, and the love each of you has for one another is increasing;

So that we ourselves speak highly of you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all the persecutions and trials that you are enduring:

¶ Which is a clear indication of God’s righteous judgment, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer:

Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to return trouble to those who trouble you;

And give relief to you who are afflicted and to us as well, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

In flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and who refuse to accept the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

Who will be punished with unending destruction away from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his might;

On the day that he returns to be glorified in his saints, and to be marveled at by all who believe — including you because you believed our testimony to you.

¶ In regard to which we are also continually praying for you, that our God will make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power may accomplish every good thing you decide to do, and every act prompted by your faith:

That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and Lord Jesus Christ.

[Note: Through persecution weak faith can be transformed into determined conviction. Verse 5]
