PRIVATE INTERPRETATION

As I work to expose the evolutionary delusion that grips our society I am daily reminded of God’s warning of a time when men, “will turn their ears away from the truth, and will be turned to fables” (2Tim. 4:4). Now, it should be obvious to every thinking person that “evolution” is a fable. Nevertheless, Christians who have been taken in by that fable often try to twist the words of Scripture to make them agree with it. The fact that the words of Scripture clearly teach a six-day creation does not slow them down in the least. They just make up elaborate explanations aimed at getting around what is said. And, that is clearly contrary to the will of God. The words, “No prophecy of scripture is of any private interpretation,” tell us that God did not intend for us to find any meaning in His Words “other than what you read” (2Pet. 1:20, 2Cor. 1:13). In other words, because Scripture did not originate in the mind of man, its meaning is not to be found in the explanations dreamed up by men. And, because it does not need to be explained by men its words mean just what they say, nothing more (2Cor. 1:13). Now in saying this I realize that many things in the Bible are hard to understand. I am not denying that! However, the words, “No prophecy of scripture is of any private interpretation,” warn us against listening to those who make up explanations. If we do not understand what is being said, instead of making up explanations we need to concentrate on those truths that God has stated in words so clear they need no explanation.
