THE SECOND RULE OF BIBLE INTERPRETATION

The second rule of Hermeneutics (Bible interpretation) is that, "Whenever man's word contradicts God's Word, man's word must be rejected as wrong". This rule rests firmly on the doctrine of the inspiration and authority of Scripture, and is also taught by the words, "To the law and to the testimony: if they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them" (Isaiah 8:20). Moreover, the alternative (rejecting or explaining away the Word of God) is condemned by all of the passages that tell us not to take away from the words of Scripture (Rev. 22:18).

Those who would reinterpret the words of Scripture in a vain attempt to make them agree with or even teach the unscientific myth of evolution violate this rule of Hermeneutics. And because their interpretations contradict what the Bible plainly says (Exodus 20:11), those interpretations must be rejected as false (Isaiah 8:20). The fact that these people ignore the thousands of scientists who reject evolution, and choose to believe the atheist scientists is revealing.
