THE SONG OF SOLOMON

The Song of Songs Chapter 3

¶ In the night on my bed I looked for him whom my soul loves: I looked for him, but I did not find him.

I will get up now, and go out into the city into the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loves: I sought him, but I did not find him.

The watchmen who go about the city found me: I asked them, Have you seen him whom my soul loves?

Shortly after I left them, I found him whom my soul loves: I held him, and would not let him go, until I had brought him into my mother’s house, and into the room of the one who conceived me.

I charge you, O you daughters of Jerusalem, by the gazelles, and by the wild does of the field, that you do not stir up, or awaken my love, till he please.

¶ Who is this who comes out of the wilderness like pillars of smoke, perfumed with myrrh, frankincense, and all the fragrant powders of the merchant?

¶ Behold Solomon’s royal litter; sixty valiant men are around it, all heroes of Israel.

They all carry swords, being expert in war: every man has his sword on his thigh because of fear in the night.

King Solomon made himself a sedan chair of the wood of Lebanon.

He made its posts of silver, its back of gold, and its seat of purple, the inside lovingly prepared, by the daughters of Jerusalem.

Come out, O you daughters of Zion, and behold king Solomon with the crown his mother crowned him with on the day of his wedding, on the day of his hearts rejoicing.
