THE BOOK OF ZECHARIAH

Zechariah Chapter 8

¶ The word of the LORD of hosts again came to me, saying,

Thus says the LORD of hosts; I am jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I am jealous for her with great fury.

Thus says the LORD; I will return to Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem will be called a city of truth; and the mountain of the LORD of hosts the holy mountain.

Thus says the LORD of hosts; There will yet be old men and old women sitting in the streets of Jerusalem, each so old he will have a staff in his hand.

And the streets of the city will be full of boys and girls playing in its streets.

Thus says the LORD of hosts; If it is unbelievable in the eyes of the people who remain here at this time, should it also be unbelievable in my eyes? the LORD of hosts is asking.

Thus says the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will save my people from countries to the east, and from countries to the west;

And I will bring them, and they will live in the midst of Jerusalem: and they will be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness.

¶ Thus says the LORD of hosts; Let your hands be strong, you who now hear these words by the mouth of the prophets, who were there when the foundation for the house of the LORD of hosts was laid, so that the temple could be built.

For before that time there were no wages for men, or rent for beasts; nor was there any safety from enemies for those who went in or out: for I turned every one against his neighbor.

But now I will not deal with the rest of these people as I did previously, says the LORD of hosts.

For they will sow in peace; the vine will yield its fruit, the ground will yield its increase, and the skies will give their dew; and I will cause the rest of these people to possess all these things.

And it will come to pass, that as you were a curse among the heathen, O house of Judah, and house of Israel; so will I save you, and you will be a blessing: fear not, but let your hands be strong.

For thus says the LORD of hosts; As I resolved to punish you, when your fathers provoked me to wrath, says the LORD of hosts, and I did not relent:

So I have decided again in these days to do what is good to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah: do not be afraid.

These are the things that you should do; Let every man speak the truth to his neighbor; and within your gates render judgements that are in accord with truth and bring peace:

And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbor; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, says the LORD.

¶ Then the word of the LORD of hosts came to me, saying,

Thus says the LORD of hosts; The fast in the fourth month, the fast in the fifth month, the fast in the seventh month, and the fast in the tenth month, will turn to joy and gladness, and happy festivals for the house of Judah; therefore love honesty and peace.

Thus says the LORD of hosts; It will yet come to pass, that people, the inhabitants of many cities, will come:

And the inhabitants of one city will go to another, saying, Let us go quickly to pray before the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts: I myself am going.

Yes, many people and strong nations will come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the LORD.

Thus says the LORD of hosts; In those days it will come to pass, that ten men from nations of every language, will grab the robe of him who is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.
